[RC] Easy Boots 101 - DJ XJS

Hi all - I'm new to the list and have lots of inane
questions!

I'm not an endurance rider per se, but I am planning a
50 mile trail ride in the wilderness this year on my
trusty thoroughbred (don't laugh!) and he has a
tendency to pull shoes.

I have 4 Easy Boots that I throw on in the event of a
"flat tire" but they tend to either come off, or the
metal spikes inside grate up his hooves up badly.
What's the trick to making them work?

thanks,
Annie
