By the way, why does Potato get punished so severly (not being allowed to compete for the Haggin Cup) for "bumping" a horse at the ride start and someone else is not punished at all for running a person over at the finish line? Is this fair? I wonder how much politics really play into our sport...

Having been at the start of the Tevis when Potato was punished (btw, I really like Potato, he's a heck of  a lot of fun).....He did more than "bump" anybody.  He  pushed his way through a bunch of anxious horses and some of them didn't take it so well.   A horse who was near me was jostled and started bucking.. Good riding and horsemanship skills prevented alot worse accident.  I did hear of other accidents from this incident, but did not personally see them.

Bottom line, Potato knows this ride, he had stuff happen that prevented him from starting at the front (the same thing seems to happen to him every year, btw)  He should have just started in the pack where he could.  He has great horses, they could have and would have carried him to the front anyway.

He did way more than "bump" a horse at the start, let's just be clear on that.
