Re: [RC] Presidents Cup - press release Cynic warning - Howard Bramhall

This is the kind of crap that angers me so much about the Foreign Endurance
Idiots run by the Sultans of Swing. I, also, get the feeling that they
don't care at all about the horse and that their intention is to win at any
costs, with costs being the key word. Their idea of competing against the
foreigners isn't to just beat them out there in the desert, it's to buy up
the competition's horses to such an extent that there is no competition.

The ironic thing is it is their methods and changes to true endurance that
caused the problems in Spain, rebounds and filters over into what is going
on over here. Now, we might be looking at some radical changes in our vet
checks (like more of them) because of some over zealous competitive foreign
endurance idiot riders who aren't just riding for the fame and glory, but,
also, for the money. The entire situation sickens me. The only way for us
to show our anger, displeasure and disagreement with all this is to remove
ourselves from it completely. Be a part of the show and you're as much to
blame as the Sultans of Swing themselves.

How dare Mr. Benedetti say what he did in Paris as an American about our
AERC rides when it's FEI where the real problems lie. That man does not
speak for us and he should be removed as a spokesman for American endurance
riders. We have nothing to apologize for. Hey there Mr. Benedetti: Riding
for only T-Shirts is a GOOD THING, not a bad one. It's running for the
money and changing long distance riding into a thoroughbred race track
gallop that's causing the problems and creating the negative stigma that is
now attached to endurance. It's trying to get this sport into the Olympics,
no matter what the costs or danger to the horse that has put you in the
situation you are now in. You idiots caused the problem and you idiots need
to fix it. We're getting tired of paying for your mistakes.

cya,
Howard

As I have commented many times before to the consternation of some in
the FEI and many who like UAE money, this is a pile of horse
manure....no, horse manure is much, much cleaner. I've watched these
guys up close and personal....and I speak Arabic, even though I don't
look like I should. Don't kid yourselves. Love of a sport has nothing
to do with 99% of what is going on. Love of self-aggrandizement has a
whole lot. They could skip the race, the invitations, the parties, and
all that.....just throw a ride for a bunch of cameras and give each
other cups, for all the importance that the earlier steps have in the
process. The trainers and vets may care about the horses and
endurance, but the principals??? Hah! Been there and seen the
tremendous bond between man and.....uh, who was that I was riding???
No, make it man and Grand Cherokee. And where the Arabic speaking
comes in handy.....don't kid yourselves that they think the visitors
are wonderful. The foreign competitors are simply a necessary evil and
they have no respect for anyone. How can they when they actually
publish this hoo-haaw and expect people to swallow it at face value?
Anyone who believes these releases has watched too many trashy daytime
TV shows.

Yeah, I notice they invited some of our best mountain horses (winner of
Tevis, OD, Vermont...) Sort of like inviting a NASCAR driver to bring
his car that's set up for Darlington to race at Daytona...but then...Oh
yeah...we expect our championship races to be over rugged terrain.

Their whole news release just screams for a rebuttal. They so
desperately
want Endurance to be an Olympic sport, but they set that bid back 10
years with the disaster in Spain being sooo much in the spotlight.
Great
press...two horses dead and a 16 year old rides a horse he'd never been
on to be proclaimed the "World Champion" So now how can we improve the
image by offering all comers a chance at a $50,000 pot?

I love the part in the release describing how dominant they are. My
daughter was in here last night making a game out of checking the names
of their winning horses, then finding them in an older issue ridden by
Meg Wade.

Perhaps they should word the release:

"Endurance racing is
beginning to capture the public's attention in the Middle East with so
many
riders from this region convincing top trainers from all over the world
that everyone and everything has a price"

I honestly don't have anything against them being in the sport. I hope
they love it as much as I do...but I wish they'd just chill out, quit
trying so hard. Personally, I'm kinda waiting for them to give up on
the
Olympics and stop buying more horses than they can ride...then the
bottom
falls out of the "endurance horses for profit business" just like it
did
the Arabian Show Horse business back in the 80's.
