I don't think you should blanket on a regular basis.  If your
horse gets very sweaty when worked, give him a good towelling
down after riding and get a good wool or polar fleece cooler and
put it on him for an hour (while he's or walked out, if
possible) after working.  He does not need to be bone-dry when
turned out, just not wet to the skin.  If you really have
problems with him coolong out, you could trim the worst areas
(under the neck, etc) to aid in cooling.
