RE: [RC] What's in a name? - David LeBlanc

One has to draw the line at some sort of performance level.
That level will be easy for some, difficult for others, and

I'm saying we're drawing the line in a really silly place. When you go
around drawing lines, it has other effects as you've so well pointed out in
some of the discussions around various rules. We've got a line between the
star-bellied Sneeches and the plain-bellied Sneeches, when the bottom line
is that we're all a bunch of Sneeches. Either draw lines in good places for
good reasons, or don't draw them. Not drawing lines can often have benefits.

Heck, maybe if they lowered the
baskets a whole bunch and didn't allow other players within
10 feet of me, I could play in the NBA, too!

ROTFL! That's certainly a funny image.

What is wrong with that?

It makes a bunch of people feel like they're second-class citizens in our
organization, and I think that's a bad thing. It would be one thing if we
drew the line(s) in places that really meant something. For example, if we
said that riders with > 5000 miles were "Senior" (or some term signifying
seniority and accomplishment) Endurance Riders, then I'd support that.
Changing labels based on one ride isn't worth the side effects.
