Re: [RC] stifle locking problem - Susan Garlinghouse, DVM

Is anyone familiar with stifle locking on a horse? A friend's gelding
was just sent to a trainer and the trainer said the horse's stifle locks
up. My friend is at a loss at what this means or what to do. A vet
suggested iodine shots. (??) Is this something that will cause problems
down the road? Can a horse get over it with better condiditoning?>>

Lots of slow conditioning will also tighten up the ligaments involved, and
are (obviously) a better option to try before injecting the joint, or
surgery.
