[RC] Why Do I Ride? - Jonni Jewell

And the unquestioned, hard and fast rule, "Take care of your horse
first, no matter how tired you are."<<<

I got my first pony at two. I was one of the lucky ones, that never had to
dream of having a horse one day, as I always had one. I DO remember though,
my grandfather telling me those words Dot posted. As a kid, it was tough to
take care of my pony first, when I was tired, hungry, thirsty etc. But I
did. I made sure I always got them put away, fed or what ever, before I took
care of myself. It was a very good habit to get into at a young age, as it
is now second nature to come in from a ride, and make sure I have taken care
of my horse, before I meet my needs. My grandfather, although he did not
ride, had worked with horses off and on in his lifetime, and tried to make
sure I did things right.........
