[RC] Snakes on Trail - Susan Garlinghouse, DVMOk, some might be a little odd because I really like >snakes and am a > herpotologist specializing in snakes. >If you live in the land of > rattlesnakes like I do, you do >want to take precautions. Sheila, I'm with you. I like snakes, even the venomous ones---including the one that gave me a good chomp in the leg 25 years ago (still got the scar). And I was *with* a herpetologist friend in the Everglades that (as I lay writhing on the ground), ran over and said, "Oh, look, a pygmy rattler! Aren't they beautiful?" Moral of the story, watch where you're putting your feet and don't expect sympathy from field biologists. <bg> Anyway, I figure the snakes do more good than harm, and they have as much right to a trail as I do. I just keep my eyes peeled, trot on by and leave 'em be. JMO.
