Re: [RC] 100 mile riders - Maggie Mieske

I have to admit I am looking for the next great 100 mile experience...it
is/was a feeling for me that I don't think can ever be equalled...except by
doing another one!!! :)
Miles of smiles (100s of them!),

Amen. I haven't had a horse ready to finish one in a few years, but I
will
soon, and I feel just the way you do. For me, endurance is 100 miles. I
have done 12 so far - the other 63 or so other rides were just practice.
JMHO regarding 'my' participation, and no refection on how I feel about

one else's.

"Amen" from me as well. The one-day 100-mile ride is the real McCoy,
if you really want to prove yourself and your horse as an endurance
team, that's where you do it.

This idea that 25 mile rides should be run the same way as endurance
rides, and their miles counted along with endurance miles, is
ludicrous. It is a sad example of people wanting the acclaim without
working for it ... people who want to "Talk the Talk" without "Walking
the Walk."

Personally, I would be ashamed to walk up and accept a 1000-Mile
Medallion for my horse knowing some of those miles were from 25 mile
rides. I couldn't do it.
