LOL!!  I feel your pain. My half-Arab/half-Saddlebred also has a "fertile mind," SO fertile in fact that everyone who knows what a goofball he is has stopped calling him Commander and started calling him Loki after the Norse god of mischief. He's notorious for putting his nose where it doesn't belong. Never a dull moment. His recent list of "accomplishments" include rumaging through one of my supply trunks and dumping out an entire bottle of liquid supplement. How in the hell he got the cap unscrewed I have no idea, but I DO have a bucket full of medical supplies saturated with goo. He's too curious about everything to leave anything alone. It's like I have an 800 pound toddler.
I will also agree with you that despite zaney antics, he's a great horse and I adore him and that like your horse, his imprinting, upbringing and early training contributed a lot. Out of the three geldings, he's got the best attitude, the best disposition and is the very best behaved. When non-horsey friends want to come riding, I put them on him over the other two because I know I can count on him.
How uneventful our lives would be without this though. I mean, I could still have nice clean medical supplies and a full bottle of supplement. How boring would that be....
