I am neither limber nor bouncy, but I can get on a
sub-15 hand horse bareback from the ground. It's not
very graceful however, and I have to know the horse
won't walk off with me hanging off it's side....

I used to be able to do it with my over 15 hand
horses, but considering how difficult it's been with
the 14.1 gal lately, I'm not sure I want to try.

As for the scene with Legolas vaulting onto the
running horse, it looked somewhat faked to me, but as
mentioned before I know he did most of his own stunts
(and lots of recreational stunts when not filming).
