The moral is the Endangered Species Act has huge fangs and we are not going to defeat it - nor do I think we want to, but we can work with the land managers to minimize our impact on the environment and enjoy our sport at the same time. That's a true win-win for everyone and every species.

Truman

Truman, you are awesome, and show some common sense here.  There will always be SOME group that wants to use/misuse wild areas.  Everyone has a different adjenda and interest, that THEY feel is vitally important, and more important than anything else.
Who decides what is major impact (100 ATV'S a mile wide roaring across the desert), versus 100 horses single file?  People may gripe about some little-liked species holding them up from SOMETHING they want to do for fun, without having ANY IDEA, of it's status, or importance in the food chain.

Frankly, I would rather know there are SOME wild areas left that are barred to human contact/misuse.  I will happily NOT take my horse these places or hike there.  There are lots of other places to go...and BLM is putting a much higher priority on recreational use of BLM lands than they used to do.

Yes, species go extinct without human intervention....however, there are many, that we just do not understand their importance in the food chain, or even possible benefit to humans.

It would be a sad, sad world if we are reduced to humans, food animals, and people's personal pets, and former wildlife in zoos......
