I totally take my rides seriously when I'm doing a VV ride. The fact that there is no one there to notice doesn't make a tiny difference. Yes, you do have to bend your mind a little to sort all the record keeping out, but it's well worth the bend. I tried to put photos with my blog entries in the first VV this year and will try to do so again. It helps to make the ride more real to the other riders.? I really love the idea of competing against a bunch of people who are in different parts of the world.

Virtually Real I'd say. "Totally unreal" has connotations (to me:) of being not at all real - of being not real - of being the opposite of real.

Virtually Real, on the other hand, has connotations (to me:) of being real in some aspects, especially in our perception of some or all of it. The better job we do with the completeness of the sensorial coverage of "virtually", the more difficult it is to distinguish b/t "virtually real" and "actually real" -- if entrants in the Very Virtual Endurance Rides change their behaviors b/c of that participation, then their reality has virtually shifted a bit ... but really, what does it really REALLY matter if you're having a good time:)
