Re: [RC] Very Virtual Endurance - Kitley, Carrie E Civ USAF AFSPC 30 MDSS/SGSLF

Well, I guess my next question would be then, do the VV miles add up and
count towards AERC miles then? Or is it completely separate? I don't
attend the "live" rides for points, awards or BCs anyway. I just like
to go and have fun with others who are doing the same thing.

I'm probably the one missing the point, Diane (it's been known to
happen! lol). It just seems to me that the VV rides and mileage could
potentially take the place of attending actual rides if people see an
easy alternative to spending money on rides and traveling expenses. Why
go if you can do it from home? Will the numbers of AERC ride
participant drop further? That's all I was wondering. I think it's a
great idea and I'm not knocking it at all. Personally, I like the
camaraderie of an AERC ride and the camping, meeting new people and
experiencing new places. :)

As for the tracking of VV mileage, I'm wondering why bother if it
doesn't really count for anything (IF that is the case)? It seems
tedious to keep track of something simply for the sake of personal
documentation when I already know how many miles/hours I condition in a
anyways. Ok, maybe I'm just not competitive enough for a VV ride. Lol
In MaryAnne's case, I can certainly understand her point because she
isn't here to participate "live" with the rest of us so this would be
the perfect venue for her.

P.S. Before I get lambasted, my comments are strictly hypothetical and
I'm just trying to get clarification because I'm not clear on all this
yet.

One of us is missing the point.

I thought the VV rides were a way to "go to a ride" when in fact you're
just doing your regular conditioning rides. Pile up the conditioning
mileage you have to do anyway and "enter" those miles in the VV ride. I
didn't think the VV rides had anything to do with "real" Endurance rides
with points and BCs and AERC awards lists.

Is this incorrect?
