[RC] Ten Below - Merri Melde - carolyn

That's why I live in Texas now.  I used to live in Massachusetts and I hated those January and February mornings when I would get up and it was -20F.  And I had 4 hours of barn chores ahead of me.  Down here, a really cold morning is 20 F.

"That ain't nothin'," as a friend of mine would say :) It was -18 at
my house on Monday. Now, there's a chinook wind screaming in from the
west and it's finally warmed up to the low teens! Like Oreana, we
have only a skiff of snow on the ground, so we don't have to deal with
the drifts that the folks in the midwest and east have. My horses
didn't seem too cold, either. They are much colder in the fall and
late spring when they have less coat and get hit with wet rains and
snows that soak them to the bone.
