RE: [RC] Sponsoring Junior Riders - Maryben Stover

You have to be 21 years old to sponsor a junior.  You can sponsor all of them but bear in mind that it takes forever to get through a vet check with 6 horses.  I have done that.  Juniors are under 16 as of 12/1 of the ride year.  That would be 12/1/09 for this riding year.  If they are 16 or over as of 12/1 they do not need a sponsor but I would just make sure they rode with me.  There are other rules about unsponsored juniors but that is when they have mileage accrued............mb

What are the rules on Junior riders?

I have work with a 4-H club here in Virginia and I want to get 4 to 6 junior riders to try a couple of limited distance rides this coming year.
How old do you have to be to sponsor a junior?
If they are under 16 do they each need a different sponsor or can I sponsor all of them?
Also if they are 16 to 18 and this is there first ride do they need a sponsor?

Thanks,

Mark
