[RC] any good elyte "mixes"??? - Chrystal Woodhouse - Tx Trigger

Original message: >>>So as I am blending up my elytes for a ride this wknd &  I try them....... yuck, they are soooo gross!!!!!!!! I always feel like such an evil person putting them into my horse, I have done my best.... they are blended with french vanilla yogourt and 2 banana's but they are still not very good tasting :-( has anyone found anything that  makes them better?????? <<<

I am not sure why we think if something tastes nasty to us, then it is "nasty" to a horse. Have you ever really thought about the things horses will willingly eat? Beyond hay, think about the kinds of foliage they will grab and eat along the trail. Will that taste good to us? Probably not. Also, horses mouths can handle things that would have ours bleeding. My horse LOVES those purple flowers off the tops of thistles. Anyone here want to try popping one in their mouth and chewing it up like a horse does?  Horses will stand and lick on a salt block, yet if we did the same thing, as long as they might stand there and do so, how do you think our mouths would handle it?

So, unless I need an e'lyte that I want to take myself also during a ride, I am not as concerned about how it "tastes" , but more if it has the things in it my horses system might need during a ride to help replenish them from the electrolytes they lose.
