Re: [RC] FEI and bute - Truman Prevatt

Eric,

That is very admirable and the right attitude. However, in the 2008 Olympics the German team was under investigation for drug use. Four show jumpers were disqualified for drug use. And a US dressage team lost their placing because one of their riders was disqualified doping her horse.

So there seems to be a problem with drug use in international dressage and show jumping which is probably why the FEI has moved to change the drug rule so they won't have to disqualify horses in the future.

Respectfully I have to disagree with you.

We are at a Dressage barn with many of the top CDS and Region 7 USDF rider with both pro and amateur competeing at the FEI levels.
There is not one rider here [us included] that would compete or even work their horse if it were sore, let alone needing Bute or another similar drug.  Our horses are our partners and any competition win is not worth risking their long term health.
