RE: [RC] 75 vs 100 - EnduroGal

After having ridden with Mike for a number of years, I can tell you that he
is an exceedingly logical and practical fellow with an amusing dry sense of
humor and a mathematically and engineering-ly wired hard-drive. ;-)) You
can't argue with numbers, folks. Logic wins the debate and Mike collects
all the points for this one! HA!

In response to:"I've always seen the 75 as a no man's land
distance. I have never had any interest in a 75 - still don't even
with more points. If you want points do a 100. If you want to do a
100 do a 100. You don't need a 75 to get your horse ready for a 100."

On a strategy basis if you were really interested in points - the
completion rate for 75 mile rides is a lot higher than the
completion rate for 100 mile rides. On that basis - while the
points are less for a 75 - you are considerably more likely to get
them.

For 75 mile rides - the completion rate is about 80%. For 100
mile rides - it drops down to about 60%.

For all distances

LD ~ 88%
50 ~ 84%
75 ~ 80%
100~ 60%

It's the last 25 miles that seems to be a lot more difficult for
horse and rider in the 100.

Mike
