Re: [RC] Emergency Treatment Fund (was: Research Committee News...) - Barbara McCrary

Title: "The opposite of a correct statement is a false statement
We know dehydration is caused by lack of fluids. It would be great to find out WHY a horse refuses to drink. Case in point...my husband's ex-endurance horse, probably the only horse to win and BC every day of a 5-day ride. As time went on, he started to refuse to drink on rides until he was in real trouble. Lud finally gave him to a friend for a pleasure horse because of this problem.

The second issue is to address the issues of how to mitigate the onset of dehydration at rides. Are there steps that could be taken and polices introduced that would reduct the risk of colics? We just don't know. We should start trying to find out.
