Re: [RC] Ok ride campers... Need your expertise - Don Huston

Get a truck bed from a 2003 and have it painted to match your new cab. Get a flatbed.

I posted this morning about our trailer issues. The places we go with our trailers, you just cannot cut corners in some areas. Here is the trouble - our 2009 F350 has higher rails(sides) than the 2003 that got totaled. So - that means that we cannot haul our trailer with our truck. Nice. Here are some measurements: The bed is 22" deep, from the ground to the TOP of the rials 58" and when we managed to get the trailer ON the ball, we had about 2" clearance between the struts of our 2003 Trails West and the rails of the truck. One half hearted ditch would trash the truck. I LOVE our TW and had NO expectation of having to sell it, but the bigger problem is that I don't even know what to LOOK for. I just know SOMEONE has got to have had to deal with this before and no one else has the perspective of endurance riders, who tend to go where no man has gone before. I would love to have advice, input, etc on this, since I am aware that the standard 8" of clearance between underside of nose and truck rails is JUST getting by - 10" would be better. We had a full 12" on our old rig but that is not to be now and I do not know what to do. K - shoot!
