[RC] Owyhee Canyonands update - stephanie teeter

Ok, the web page is updated http://www.endurance.net/oreana/owyheecanyonlands/2009/ with info, printable and online registration. Pre-registration discount if you send your stuff in by September 22. Ride dates are September 29 - October 3 (Tuesday - Saturday). The online registration form is real simple so use that if you can. No payments until you arrive, or finish riding. Corrals available by reservation.

I've put some new trails and connections together, this will be an 'out there' ride with the first four days having an out vetcheck. Day 5 will have 2 25 mile loops and one hold in camp.
Day 1 - Wildhorse Butte - Snake River canyon - the best footing and easiest trail.
Day 2 - Castle Creek canyon - classic Owyhee desert ride, very scenic, some rocky stretches.
Day 3 - Alder Creek (totally new - this is going to be a nice ride - great views, and some old homesteads crossing Browns Creek)
Day 4 - Sinker Canyon - ride through the canyon - rocky but spectacular. Return on a new trail crossing upper Bates creek.
Day 5 - Hart Creek - ride through the Oreana Savana homestead below the canyon notches, and a new out and back trail crossing Hart Creek above the notch over to Browns Creek.

All 5 days will have LD and Endurance. Day 5 will also have a trail ride.

All 50's are AHA recognized.

Vets are Michael Peterson, Robert Washington and Olin Balch.

Blue Canoe restaurant will be set up starting on Monday to serve breakfast, lunch, dinner. Dinners are free with ride entry.

Hot showers, happy hour, good trails, good friends and good horses! What more can one ask for? (good weather too :)

This is not a difficult ride, there is one good rolling climb on Day 3 up to 4500' (basecamp is 3000'), some rocky technical trails in places but plenty of good going too. The days shouldn't be too long. Pads or foot protection strongly recommended especially if you want to ride all week.

See ya there!

Steph
