[RC] coming up on the outside from behind - sherman

Title: Message
The year I completed Tevis, my daughter and I started last, the previous riders were at least 5 min ahead of us (hardly any dust this way). I was able to make up time by taking it easy before each gate & go, even though we spent more time than recommended at each one allowing the horses to eat. I lost time when my daughter's horse fell and had to get vet care after we left Foresthill, and still finished in the mid-60s with about an hour to spare. I still think it would be a good idea (eventually) to use the microchips and allowing a slightly more spread out start.

The Robinson exit CRI might have been more of a factor in being overtime than anything. Many riders had to stand in line for 15 to 20 minutes on their way out, and that was after a 15-20 minute vet check on the way in...not much time for either horse or rider to rest, IMHO.
