[RC] Loose Salt - Roger Rittenhouse

Thought a change up would be nice :)

SALT
I have been feeding loose salt for ever. Never used the blocks. At first I used
just feed grade white salt, then added trace mineral salt. Which is white
processed salt with minerals added back in.

I started a natural mined salt, Redmond Salt, about 15 yrs ago. The cost of
the
salt and the shipping was getting too high for me, so I went back to white and
trace mineral salt. I found or observed they all did not take up as much salt as
when they were on Redmond salt.

At the coop and TSC as well as other feed suppliers, they carry a salt ROCK
called TROPHY ROCK. It is for feeding deer. For those who set up bait feed
stations for the deer hunt.
Review of this salt indicated it was about or is the same a Redmond salt. I
believe it comes from the same place.

I bought a big rock and proceeded to bash it into dust and and small pebbles.
They all loved it. The test was, within a week they ate about half of the bashed
rock salt and left the processed salts.

I found out the company makes a small pellet about the size of a rice grain.

The coop ordered a number of bags. Very nice they all love it and I dont have to
pulverize the big rocks.

COST $9 for a 25 pnd bag. What a deal. No shipping costs. I was paying close to
$50 for 25 pnds by mail order. Shipping was higher then price of the bag of
salt.

The gang of 4 go though about one bag per 1.5 month.

Great stuff and great price Get it at your coop. They will order the pellets.
