[RC] Water trough mosquito dunks - Victoria Thompson

I've never had to resort to putting something into my water trough other than fish before, but fish are not possible in Hawkeye's current home. So, aside from dumping the trough out every few days I thought of using those Mosquito Dunk rings. The package says they are perfectly safe for livestock water tanks, so I'm not really concerned about poisoning my horse if he drinks the water, however, what happens if Numb Nuts actually eats the ring? Nothing in the literature says anything about ingestion of the ring itself.
