Re: [RC] color for horses/blue/yellow cones - Barbara McCrary

We once owned a horse that would not cross white painted "cattleguards" on pavement in cattle country; and another horse that was fearful of bright patches of sunlight filtering down through the tall trees in a dark forest. The second horse was born and raised on the Montana prairie with not a tree in sight, so I can understand and forgive that.

this is a great article on how horses see.
Also, a couple years ago someone posted on another board a german? training technique using blue and yellow cones, blue for left brain, yellow for right (or vice versa) and it was a page that needed translation. I looked and looked on google for it, but just could not get the right one.

Even just perception between white and black. I've had some horses that shy at black asphalt patches in the street but will handle white cross walk stripes in a parade with aplomb -- others that freaked at white stripes but could care less about black.
