[RC] Sponge Leashes - Michelle Aquilino

Ok, sponges and the leashes and everything make me nervous (thanks to an incident I had with someone else's horse).? I have an idea of a setup I can?make that will be out of the way when not using, and I am NOT planning on leaving it attached while sponging (so if anything does happen, I can let go, and problem hopefully solved).? If I'm planning on unclipping it from the saddle, and leaning over to dunk it into the water, how long should I make the leash?? I'm thinking maybe three feet should be long enough, but not too short at the same time.? I don't want to have to stretch too much, but I want minimal string hanging down when I'm not using it (while my idea is minimizing the loop of string exposed, there will be excess string hanging down without a loop).
