I think this is a fair description of why those who ride the longer distances resent giving those who didn't work as hard the same awards as are given to those who worked much harder. But that's a different problem from bristling at the "misuse" of the word Endurance. Since "Endurance" has become "endurance" the world over, except in AERC, I think it makes sense to do as the rest of the world has done. Distinguish between 100 milers, 50 milers, 25 milers, etc. and abandon the term "Endurance". I know that hurts our sense of history and the literally blood, sweat and tears that went into "Endurance", but there comes a time when we need to turn away from the past and look forward. In the long run, labeling a horse a "100 mile horse" will prove far more prestigious than simply calling it an "Endurance horse".
