Re: [RC] FEI and AERC - Dream WeaverThe shorter times required by FEI for the horses to meet critera both during the ride and at the finish seem like a great idea. Wonder what AERCs reasoning is not to do the same? Seems like it is one more excellent way to help ensure the horses well being. I may have this wrong, and if so I apologize in advance but it is my understanding that at the 100 I just did a rider finished and vetted through and got a completion as per the rules on that specific ride - within a 1/2 hour of finishing. Then went to show for BC post finish 1 hour and the horse was thumping, so was not allowed to show for BC. Point is that had the horse not vetted through as soon as it did and had waited for the BC showing for the completion check that it might not have gotten a completion. This was a topic of conversation among many at the ride the next day because other riders have had similar situations occur. If the goal is to identify horses that are developing issues and problems maybe there should be more discussion and research in this area before it is decided that one way or the other is better? One rider commented that their horse (at another ride) had to wait to show for the final completion check till the BC judging post ride 60 minutes and then was pulled, whereas had the horse been allowed to vet through immediately upon finishing would have received a completion (also, a horse that started thumping).
