[RC] fat vs protein question - Sheila_Larsen


Question I have, ok so the protein maybe higher than the horse in question
(needs to put on weight) needs but even if you put a lower proten that
isn't necessarily going to make him put on weight is it?  I too have a
horse that eats alot of hay (alfalfa grass am and meadow grass pm) almost
as much as she can eat, about 1 - 2 pounds of Purinia 10 and about a pound
of ground flax seed a daily and essentially very little work right now.
She doesn't do well on beet pulp :  (  blood work normal and has been
wormed.  Teeth are done regularly.  I would love to see more weight on this
horse.  I guess I can add corn oil to the grain mix to increase fat but
back to the original question, why would protein be relevant to the
original question
