What ever the presentation of endurance at the 2010 WEG will determine
endurance's perception and reputation for the following decade. Equine
fatalities, fluid administration, et al, in all their "gory" (no typo) on TV
will have a detrimental effect on the perception and reputation of endurance.
Surely the jumper discipline is heavily involved now in course layout and
footing to prevent injuries to their horses and riders. Course layout can be
designed in endurance to limit speed. Many RM's do that now here in the US at
AERC rides. Only further involvement now by AERC will insure a positive outcome
of the 2010 WEG. Just remember, the whole world will be watching!
