Just give it time. My husbands horse was the slowest, pokiest horse ever when he was started. (TB/QH) As he got older, he got faster. He now outwalks almost everybody he rides with, including some gaited horses. He also can be a real handful about wanting to go faster when trotting or cantering.---read: every speed above a walk should be a gallop-:o)--- Moving to the mountains has mellowed him quite a bit, but don't ever believe him completely, he may just be taking a breather.
