Re: [RC] City Slickers - First Ride? - Truman Prevatt

Teresa,

City Slickers is run in a city park in Memphis. You ride along with the Memphis skyline in the back ground. The last couple of years I believe they have one out check. Footing is fine - of course unless it rains a lot it could be muddy. It's Memphis - it's flat. The one unique thing about City Slickers is it is in a city park. You will be sharing the park with many other people, from kids throwing Frisbees to people jogging.

Many years ago it was on Easter weekend. I came around a bend and my horse came eye-ball to eye-ball with a 6 foot Easter bunny hiding eggs for the hunt! Needless to say that was a bit exiting.

It's a fun ride.

Truman

Question for Ridecamp:
My sister has just begun training a new 4yo endurance mare and would like to consider a slow 25 at City Slickers. How't that ride for a first ride? Footing? Are vet checks in camp or out? Is there much change in elevation.
Thanks for your opinions.
