I currently use a Myler snaffle (they are around 10 mm) and am purchasing a different bit on recommendation of my dressage instructor, one that is a bit thicker. I've been told that arabs have thicker tongues and smaller palates and to be careful not to get too thick a bit. What would be considered too thick? The bit I'm contemplating is 18 mm, too thick? They have a similar style in 14 mm but that's not much thicker than my Myler. thanks everyone!
