Re: [RC] It IS just my Opinion, Richard - Kathy Mayeda

Your post still smacks of severe judgment my dear. It's true that many people won't see eye to eye with you, but that's true of real life too.  Just like I don't talk politics... hehehehe....

I enjoy Ridecamp, but you have to realize that the majority of FEI competitors do not participate on Ridecamp so you are reading a very skewed sample of the overall AERC member population.  Their knowledge and experience are first hand experience and not judging from an armchair.  I do know a few world class FEI competitors, and they are just normal endurance riders and not people who over-ride their horses for glory.

The difference is between them and me is that they put the time in, at the barn everyday micromanaging their endurance mounts, conditioning for their races and bring a marvelously well conditioned mount that are able to do what they are asked over the distance and speed required for the big FEI races.   You also have to remember that the FEI rides at the lower levels are probably not too much different from our AERC rides, just probably just a lot more rules and paperwork necessitated that of course irks us average AERC members who aren't used to such rigamarole.  You will also see these same FEI competitors riding at our local AERC rides all the time.

I find extremely sad that you can say such harsh things when you admittedly obtain all your endurance information from Ridecamp.  I believe that is what Richard is alluding to as to a "knee jerk response."

Wow. A few of you read way more into my post than I actually wrote.

Richard asks, "Do you really think you're being 'chastised' because other people 'think different'?"

No, because I think different. I was being sarcastic as I mentioned several times. I was not however, bashing anything. I did say international riding does not impress me but I never typed the letters F-E-I. I don't sneer from corners, Richard. I am pretty up front about what I think. I don't think we have to experience everything in life just to have an opinion.
Richard, please increase my knowledge of endurance racing as you think I should know it. Most of what we all know, we have read on Endurance.net. I am sure some us have received private posts that may tell a different story. I have.

I don't begrudge these riders and as I said before, I wish them and their horses well. As I also said before, it is their CHOICE to race this way and my OPINION is that this is not the endurance riding I like to see for the benefit of the horse.

Richard, if you think the biggest shame about international riding is my "knee jerk" response, then of course we will never see eye to eye.
