Re: [RC] beet pulp shelf life - a.hoinsHi Cid,Glad you asked this question. I have stored beet pulp over the winter in my cool, dry basement with no problems, dry being important with mold being the big issue. I purchased a bag this spring and plopped it into a metal garbage can in my barn expecting to use it shortly when my plans changed. Was going through the cans the other day and found the bag which I forgot about. We have had a fairly wet spring, but not bad humidity. Have had some warm days though. The beet pulp has stayed dry in the can, but I am concerned about the humidity and how long it's been in the can. Should I just compost this bag and start new? For the $12 maybe I should buy some peace of mind. Does anyone know the shelf life of beet pulp and under what conditions, other than getting wet, that would be an environment for mold to grow? Thanks, Ann SW PA
greetings all.. couldnt find the answer in the archives. Am using shredded beet pulp which Gazi's inhaling nicely :) . I'll have quite a bit left over in fall.. If i dont use much this winter.. .will it still be good/palatable next spring? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
