Re: [RC] Pull codes - Barbara McCrary

It is my understanding that RO applies to the rider ONLY. The rider is ill, tired, injured, whatever. RO does not apply to the horse at all. In your scenario, why did the rider simply quit? If the answer to that question applies in any way to the horse, then the RO must be followed with either L or M, based on the rider's suspicion that the horse is not doing well, even though he was passed by the vet.

OK, after thinking about this all night I think I figured out the scenario that JT is wanting clarification on.

Scenario: Rider comes into vet check, horse passes the exam and appears to
be just fine. Rider then tells management that they are just simply
quitting, nothing appears to be wrong with the horse. An hour or two later
the rider brings the horse back because it has now quit eating and drinking.

I think JT is wondering if in this scenario if the previously recorded RO
should now be changed to an RO-M. JT is this what your are wondering about?

Mike

Under what situation would the code RO-L be used? Can you give a specific
scenario?
