[RC] Longstreet's Charge - rides2far

Dr. Dick Root always thought she'd do great at the longer distances,
maybe even 100's, but I never got the nerve to try them on her
because of her gut sound issues.? jeri

You should have. Kaboot used to outrun his gut sounds for a little while
but right after 25 miles his brain kicked in and that was the most
enjoyable he ever was. The first 25 miles was just something to get out
of the way which was why training wasn't all that fun.

His gut sounds were fine on 100's. The extremely sane starts and the
atmosphere of smaller groups of seasoned horses was perfect for him. It's
a far cry from the mass start of a whole bunch of LD horses. LD riders
have to deal with most of the newcomers who are excited, or on green
horses, or may not know unwritten rules like "passing on the left" or
waiting at water. I feel for them but I'll let them break those folks in
before I have to ride with them. :-)

Kaboot was just getting really good at it and ready to run fast
metabolically when we started fighting lameness issues. I'd have LOVED to
have seen what he could have done if it had all been right at the same
time.

Angie (school's closed because of snow/ice tomorrow...WOOO HOOO!!!!)
