[RC] re: Extended Trot (w/ photo) - aarenex

my future endurance horse, a 6-year-old standardbred mare.

Although she's built slightly "butt high" while standing still, a friend riding beside me on the trail noted that her butt is actually an inch or two LOWER than her withers when she engages the rear engine at the trot.

The photo is maybe not too clear, but her hind feet track an inch or two outside of her front feet in a good trot.  They track straight in her "conversational and casual" trot.

Angie:  did Kaboot travel "base wide" all the time, or only in the powerful trail-eating trot?  Others?

(back to lurking now)
