Just curious - Can you describe what a compression fracture feels like?

I would wait on the chiro until the doctor considers you to be healed - has the
doctor given you a timeline for the restriction on activities? You could end up
doing more damage if the fracture is not healed I would think.

I had a pretty serious ridng accident about four years ago with several
compression fractures, T-8 being the most severe, and I wore a brace for six
months. Another six months of restricted activities, no riding and physio with
a physiotherapist/osteopath at a sports medicine clinic. The exercises they
gave me were awesome for getting rid of the stiffness that six months with a
brace will do. I still use some of the physio exercises for stretching my back.
I find that as long as I am doing exercise I am good, it is when I do less
exercise or have been inactive (like standing in one place or in a line) that I
get a sore/stiff back. Also a regular stretching routine is a must for me.

I have not yet tried a chiro as I am a bit of a chicken about having my
back/neck worked on in that way, although a chiro has done wonders for my
horse! The chiro did say he would have to see xrays of my injuries *before*
working on me and this is several years after. So proceed with caution! You may
want to give an osteopath or physiotherapist a try first for such a recent
injury.

I have a compression fracture that is "mild" (have NO idea what that means)
on T-12. It is almost 3 weeks old. Ok I know I am not supposed to lift
anything heavy (ok so lifting the 2x6's in the truck last Saturday was not
one of my best decisions <g>), not drive an ATV, (I don't consider a few
minutes on my tractor in that category) or do any twisting. My discomfort
comes mostly from muscle soreness particularly on my left side. I have had
a massage and it felt good after that, but I want to know if I should go to
the chiropractor as I would like to have my neck adjusted but am wondering
if it is too early to have my back adjusted. Years ago I had a serious
accident and was going to the chiropractor for adjustment as then after an
adjustment I could not longer walk as the pain from my sciatic was too
great. Should I wait on the chiropractic for a little longer? Also,
shortly after the accident I didn't know that I wasn't supposed to twist so
I got on my twister board and very very gently twisted for probably less
than a minute. I didn't feel anything bad from that but I was on some
pretty strong pain killers. I did feel the results from moving the boards
and was pretty much back in bed for two days.

So any thoughts?
