RE: [RC] Rules question?? - Kitley, Carrie E Civ USAF AFSPC 30 MDSS/SGSLFI'm with you, Jannelle. I could be in the tent right near where my horse is trailer-tied and still worry about her. lol I'm a mom. Not just with my kids, but my critters too. :) If weather got terrible, I would just pack up and head home. But then, with gas prices, we don't typically do rides that are more than 5 hours from home anyway. That would be difficult if you're more than a day from home. I wouldn't sleep at all anyways, if my horses were in a trailer in a hotel parking lot, so it would be a waste for me to get a hotel. So, hubby and I would probably trade off driving and sleeping to get home. We have, on a couple of occasions, finished a ride and gone to a hotel when the weather was really bad. We were tent camping. It was snow, hail, freezing rain, and windy. Our trailer was a large stock trailer with the front half protected form the weather. I finished the ride, my horse was sound and in good shape. We rested for a short time, but the horse wanted to be out of the wind and weather. We packed up, headed to town and parked out of the wind and got a room. She ate, drank and was in good shape the next morning. Got her out in the lot and walked her around for a while before heading home. I have seen where people drop there horses off the afternoon of the ride, ask someone to watch them while they go to a hotel or out to dinner all night. That does not work for me. I worry enough when I am in camp with them, never mind if I left the area. Adam Jannelle Wilde & Adam Falk 584 Romie Howard Rd.
