[RC] Magnesium...alfalfa vs.grass hay - Naomi Preston

Regarding alfalfa hay, it does have a higher magnesium content (.30%) vs.  grass hay (.20%).  (Analysis from Dairy One labs.2007 hay crop averages).  However. alfalfa  is very high in calcium, and high calcium (or high phosphorus) may interfere with magnesium absorption.
