Re: [RC] NOT Married because of horses... - Katrina Mosshammer

I love my horses and went through withdrawals during college without them, so I was so happy to be able to buy a place of my own a couple of years ago. I want to have kids of my own but my mother keeps joking that I'll just have to settle for nieces. I'm so busy, I don't really have time for a social life anyway. I'm almost never at home. LOL Not to mention between the dogs and the cats there no more room left in my queen size bed :-) The only guys I seem to attract are the ones that live for video games, and I don't just mean playing them, I'm talking dressing up like the characters and going to conventions. Now don't get me wrong, both of my brothers like their video games but one's a fireman and the other is retired army and now works for a railroad company, they grew up and became responsible adults with families just like to play sometimes. I seem to attract the ones who still think they are teenagers and want a mom figure to take care of them. No, Thank you! I have had a couple of my guy friends back in college tell me I was a little intimidating. I kind of have that Annie Oakley thing going, you know "Anything you can do I can do better." Being the youngest with a 6 year gap between me and the next oldest and an 11 year gap between me and the oldest, and having cousins that were the same age as my siblings if I wanted to do anything I had to learn to hang with the big boys, so I got pretty strong and pretty tough. I just can't make myself look and act like a delicate flower, it is just not in my genes. Nope, I do the heavy lifting with the boys and I get excited when I actually get to change a tire instead of just watching a man do it, no offense to the men. Of course I get some dirty looks when I don't play the "damsel in distress card". A couple of years ago I ran out of gas on the side of the road, so I called my sister and she was on the way with a gas can, no biggie. It was summer and too hot to sit in the car while I waited so I just sat on the hood and waited. Along comes this truck and this younger guy steps out and says "Do you need some help?" and I said "No, thanks. I've already got someone on the way." OH, the look I got! It was like I crushed him. He was all ready to "come save the day" and I robbed him of that. LOL

This year I will be turning 30 and now I can't hardly go to  a ride without being asked "Are you married yet?" to which I reply  "Nope, haven't even got a boyfriend yet."  Katrina

Same here! I didn't do endurance all my life, but have been into horses all my life. Am also turning 30 this year, had a few BFs, but they all failed...and that was BEFORE I started traveling all over the place to go wallow in the dirt and have fun at rides :P So I figure I will have to face being not married for the rest of my life, LOL...esp because I also have NO interest in kids and "raising a family"...chases a lot of guys away when you tell them that you already have kids and they have four legs... :)
