[RC] Ride entry prices - rides2far

What do you guys consider reasonable ride entry prices?
for LD, 50 and 100 mile rides?

I'll bite on this one. It depends on whether the manager is having to pay
for the camping facility, whether there are restrooms (do they have to
pay for porto-lets) etc. If it's a fund raiser benefit for a charity they
may need to tack on a "profit" margin whereas an individual may want more
of a "safety" margin.

This time my ride was $80 for 50 mile distance and $70 for the 25. $15
non-refundable deposit after the deadline. If they sent the money really
early, then dropped out before the deadline I returned their deposit. (If
I didn't, let me know). No meals offered, no camping fees tacked on. I'm
lucky, no charge for my camp.

Next year it will be the same price for both distances. I gave the same
awards and due to having an away vet check the finish of the 25 being
away from the main check forces me to double the number of vets I need.
(Otis told me I need 4 next year), so my cost for both distances is the
same. I let juniors ride 1/2 price. I would LOVE to put on a 100 and
charge the same price for all three distances, but my trail isn't a very
good place to put on a 100.

I go to a ride to ride, not eat, so my ride will be one where I keep
entry fees as low as possible and focus on trail and vets. I would
happily opt out of all ride meals in exchange for gas money. :-) I hated
charging late fees ($15 ) because I hate paying late fees. I just know
that's the only way you can make people help you out on planning and I'm
really going to need that so we did it. I am as bad or worse than anybody
about entering late and this has been a wake-up call for me to be more
considerate of ride managers. Next year I will print it all over the
entry form in bold type though. Sure hated to surprise people with it
when they hadn't bothered to read the whole form. It's a pain, but when
people who pre-entered don't get the T-shirt size they ordered because
those who didn't got to them first it's kinda frustrating. It just helps
all around to know who's coming....but you're sure happy when the
surprise people who only found out they could come at the last second
show up!

Angie (listening to a raging thunderstorm thanking God it didn't hit last
week!)
