Re: [RC] Muscle testing - was Dynamite - Diane Trefethen

Wow! Those are some pretty harsh criticisms of the state of medicine. But why save all your cannon for physicians? After all, THEY aren't really the problem - advancing technology is the problem. And those advances are all around us. So much so that a lot of experts "really don't know the effects" of what they are doing. Let's slam dentists while we're at it. And auto mechanics. How many grease monkeys are a whiz with computers? And that's what all our new trucks use to run with these days. Add to the problem all the jerks who want to scam you with pseudo-science, because they know that you *don't* know, and you'll see your world is full of technological land mines.

The prudent course (an antiquated concept done away with by our legal system) is to use good, common sense (another commodity in damn short supply these days) when dealing with any "expert". Get other opinions. Weigh all the facts you are given. Then use those experts as you see fit (after all, YOU are paying them, not the other way around). So whether it's colic (my vet recommended apple cider vinegar 15 years ago because she saw it work for some horses), or shoeing (changing angles will NOT guarantee your horse can work sound for 50 miles), or the latest fad in horse training, think things through and make a decision with all the "expert" help you can get.

But make it YOUR decision.

of cancer, but he didn't know what type or where it was, would you let
an AK practitioner test your muscles and tell you what anti-cancer drugs
you should take, or which organ should be removed? Surely a frank
pathology like cancer would be an easy one to figure out and
locate........?"

Ah.... Well yes I just might let my body tell me more than the doctor.
I think that our body knows best. There are millions of stories of
people who have done just this and gotten well.

In my very humble opinion the medical community is not what
it used to be. It is simply a general hit and miss technique. Just
look at the drug issues with the kids today. Many doctors saying
that they really don't know the effects of the drugs they are using.

And, to keep this horse related my mare was diagnosed with
Cushings. After lots of work and figuring out what would help
her, what helped her best was to let her loose with a vast choice
of things to eat. She choose what was best and is well and
on no drugs.
