I received some wonderful advice. I think the part folks "missed" was that I was wondering how to wash them during Wyoming's winter. Yes, I do hose them off during the summer. However, my hoses were frozen until recently :) The best advice I got was to pull out my inserts and wash them in a front loader washer using hydrogen peroxide based natural bleach.
