Re: [RC] Boston Driving vs. Horses//Caution around trailheads - Beverley H. Kane, MD

Title: Re: [RC]  Boston Driving vs. Horses//Caution around trailheads
You are so funny, Truman. Somehow I can’t picture a bold, entrepid endurance rider getting white knuckles in Boston.
I learned to drive in Boston, learner’s permit at age 15.5, in a huuuuuuge, boat-like Buick Wildcat.
By the time I got my license, I could blow people off in rotaries, grab lanes, and steal parking spaces w/ the best of ‘em, even at night on ice and snow or in the midst of post-Red Sox win melees.

White knuckles was the first time I sat on a jigging horse.

I used to spend a lot of time at the AFB outside Boston. My knuckles are still white from driving there. One time we fly in and decide to stop in downtown or dinner on our way out East. There was a U2 concert in town that night. It was packed. I actually saw a guy driving up on the sidewalk to get around all the people in the street. I made a comment to my traveling mate. A native beside us heard me and said, "it's quite common in Boston." I am sure he was kidding =-O .
