Frank Smith rides mules a lot on Tevis. Another friend of
mine rode his mule once. When he got to the finish, the mule took one look at
the lights and people at the Overlook, spun around and ran back out on the
trail. He did eventually get the mule to turn back around and cross the
finish line, but it was after quite a run.
