As for producing Hybrids, or any other good working horse...times  are 
changing fast.  With hay prices and people only wanting to  pay a fraction of 
the 
costs for a 2-5 year old, breeders can't afford to  continue.  I don't know 
about others in this country but here in my area,  hay is running around 
$15.00 
per bale right now.  These bales are 3 string  bales about 110 lbs each.



Which just underscores a previous part of the discussion--breeding is rarely 
done with profit as a motive...
