I didn't mean to imply any right / wrong, or incompetence.  

Oops, oops. I don't think anybody did in any direction. Should have put
in a :-)  I wasn't really saying that in reply to what you said at all.
More going back to past RC conversations where we'd kind of hashed out
whether a running martingale was a crutch, gadget, etc. that we should
all learn to do without. That same week EN came out with Val on front
winning the WEC in a running martingale. >G<

What works for one may not for another. I can't get happy with any
leverage any more. Used to love my English hack, then let Josie have it
for a few years for her horse and when I tried it again I hated what I
got with it (same horse). I don't have my running martingale short. The
rein runs in a straight line from the bit to my hand so that may have
something to do with it.
